Seminyak is made of two Balinese words, Sami Nyak, which literally means 'everybody wants it'. In fact, recently every body wants to go to Seminyak and to feel its best experience. Seminyak is home to the majority of the upscale restaurants, bars and nightclubs on the island and is the main center for the local expatriates. A variety of stores with a wide range of goods line the main street. More recently it has seen a mushrooming of nightlife venues, particularly along Jalan Dhyana Pura and Oberoi. The loop of road known as Jalan Oberoi that runs from the main road in a four mile long semi-circle, has also seen a vast increase in tourist facilities, more notably restaurants than bars. Along the southern length of this road there is an burgeoning variety of dining establishments, some of them among the best that Bali has to offer. Being so close to the famous restaurant and nightlife areas, and fronting the beach, Seminyak is now chosen to host many private villas: from simple expatriate homes until the most luxury private one.
